About Cholomondas 

Cholomondas, located in the central Halkidiki, is its second highest mountain (after mountain Athos at the 3rd peninsula) and its peak reaches an altitude of 1165 m. The major part of the mountain has been included in the “Protected Areas Network”. Specifically, according to the Natura 2000 network, 212.480 acres of Cholomondas mountain are protected and declared as a “Special Protection Zone”. 

At its highest parts, the mountain is covered with chestnuts, kermes oak, pine trees, firs (also grown as Christmas trees) and beeches. At lower altitudes there are many oaks.
